Italy and Spain
It is hard to believe but our world cruise is quickly ending. We have just departed from Barcelona, Spain on our way to our last port (Lisbon, Portugal) before our disembarkation in South Hampton, England. We depart from the Queen Victoria to the Queen Mary II for our final cruise across the Atlantic to New York and the end of our travel experience.
Our first stop in Italy was Naples. From there we joined a small craft charter to the Isle of Capri. There we walked and bussed around the Island for the day and enjoyed the storybook views of this wonderful little community. Our next stop was Rome where we bussed from the coast into Rome for a fast visit to several treasures of one of our favorite cities: The Spanish Steps, Piazza Navano, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, St. Peter’s and Vatican City. We walked most of the way and the weather was terrific
Our next stop was Barcelona where we rented Ipods containing a guided tour of the city and a map directing us to much of old Barcelona, what a wonderful day.
We are sure we are going to get many questions about our likes and dislikes so Larry put together a list of the bests and worst of the world cruise:
Overall, most emotional impact: India
Best two experiences: Snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef and a Rickshaw ride through old Delhi
Two most beautiful sites: Bangkok Palace and Taj Mahal
Two best sail-aways: New York City and Sydney (ask to see our video of these)
Two best parts of sea days on the ship: Art classes and Bridge tournaments
Two places we’ll never visit again: Malaysia and Acapulco
Two best on shore meals: Hong Kong lunch and Athens dinner
Most scary travel spots: Viet Nam and Egypt
Most amazing: Panama Canal and Hong Kong
Most unique: Elephant ride in India
Worst part of the experience: Too long to be away from family and friends
Biggest surprise: How well everyone seemed to enjoy our blog site. By the way, when we get home, we’re going to send one last blog with all our remaining pictures so check in after May 1st.

What a great idea to do a quick best/worst list. I can't wait to see more pictures!!!! I know you're a bit homesick, but trust me when I say in about 3 months when you're back in the grindstone of being just regular retired folks, you might daydream of the times when you were traversing the world....Or maybe I'll just daydream for you, as I've been doing for the past 4 months. Hahaha!
Oh! And that reminds me! I was at some swank bar down in Portland last week and I had a Singapore Sling! Quite tasty.

I guess Jennifer starts her day as we do, checking your blog! Maybe this past week, without new reports, you've been gently easing us toward the end of your cruise experiences....
You'll have times in the future when you'll think of those visits again, and we can remember with you many of them you've shared with us. What a blessing good memories are!
Your voyage across the Atlantic will be filled with anticipation, joining family, friends, "normal life" again. Hope it will also be a time to totally relax and enjoy the beginnings of all those good memories. Much love, both of you. Mom June
Won't it be fun to get big licks from Tucker and big hugs and kisses from all those awaiting your arrival home! You will enjoy streaching out in your big king size bed AND roaming around your home instead of a small cabin...BUT WAIT, you still have more time to enjoy life aboard ship and maybe visiting old haunts in London? Have a wonderful journey home and know that we're looking forward to those final blogs and pictures of your "Excellent Adventure"!
Love you both!
Chrissy and Clifford xx
Just finished catching up on all your travels, WOW! What memories you'll have to enjoy your many experiences that you have encountered in all these distant places around the globe. Truly you'll be able to sit back and think about and share the pictures you have taken with so many of us in the future and it will bring you back to those special places all over again. I am so happy that you have been having a wonderful time. We miss you and are really ready for you to come home and share with us in person many of the details that have been left out. I wish I had known you were going to Greece I would have asked you to pick me up a bronze of Socrates. I love you two, be safe,
God Bless, Your sis, Gail
RA & L:
Enjoy your last cruise on QEII. Can't wait to see you 2. I assume you will be coming to the desert where we are now.
Can't seem to close off the computer without checking for SOMETHING new, something from you two or a new comment.
I have this to share, my favorite report. Your best/worst list did not mention Costa Rica with its uplifting report on conditions there - and your experience of flying through the trees, giving that to me which I would never have given myself!
I was sorry in checking Southhampton's distance from London, that you likely had to miss making connection with friends and Irish cousins there...
I'm guessing your feelings when you arrive in New York harbor will be one of the most moving of your cruise experience! - so happy for both of you that the dream of doing it has been accomplished. Much love, Mom June.
I'm going to miss these posts! Enjoy the remainder of your trip. What a fabulous experience!
